The author gives extensions of Katok's construction of horseshoe for hyperbolic ergodic measures \(\mu\) with positive entropy, under the assumptions that (1) \(f\) is \(C^{1+\alpha}\), or (2) there is a dominated splitting on \(\text{supp}(\mu)\) compatible with the zipped Oseledets splitting \(T_xM=E^s_x\oplus E^u_x\) of \(\mu\). The author also obtains some finer characterizations of the horseshoes \(\Gamma\): {\parindent=0.7cm\begin{itemize}\item[(1)] every invariant measure supported on \(\Gamma\) is close to \(\mu\) in the weak-\(\ast\) topology; \item[(2)] \(\displaystyle \frac{1}{m}\log |\text{Jac}(df^m_{|E^u_x})| \sim \int \log |\text{Jac}(df_{|E^u_x})|d\mu(x)\) for every Lyapunov regular point \(x\in \Gamma\), where \(m\) is a fixed number such that \((\Gamma, f^m)\) is mixing. \end{itemize}} | |||
