Let \(f,g,h,k:S\to H\) be functions, where \(S\) is a monoid (i.e., a semigroup with identity element) and \((H,+)\) is an abelian group. Let \(\tau:S\to S\) be an involution which is either a homomorphism or an anti-homomorphism. The author solves the Pexiderized quadratic functional equations \(f(xy)+g(x\tau(y))=h(x)+k(y)\) and \(f(xy)+g(\tau(y)x)=h(x)+k(y)\) under the assumption that one of the unknown functions on the right hand side is central. Recall that a function \(l:S\to H\) is central if \(l(xy)=l(yx)\) for all \(x,y\in S\). He also solves two extensions of the Drygas functional equation in the same setting.
