By considering the Laplace-Beltrami operator on a torus, the author arrives at a Sturm-Liouville equation of a particular form. He then studies the asymptotic behavior of the Dirichlet and Neumann eigenvalues of this equation as the ratio of inner and outer radii of the torus tends to zero or one. Some numerical results are also given.
