Demonic composition is defined on the set \(\mathrm{Rel}_X\) of binary relations over a non-empty set \(X\). The paper shows how a demonic left restriction semigroup structure arises on \(\mathrm{Rel}_X\), placing it in a general context. The paper also shows that the semigroup of \(n \times n\) matrices over the real or complex numbers is an inverse semigroup with respect to a modifed notion of product that almost always agrees with the usual matrix product, and in which inverse is pseu-doinverse (Moore-Penrose inverse).
