The book gives an up-to date of the results of an analogue of the group of isometries in the framework of noncommutative geometry and quantum groups. A unique feature of this book is the emphasis on the interaction of C-star algebraic compact quantum groups with the operator -algebraic noncommutative geometry. I think as far as I know that it is the only book deals with these both areas together in a significant way. A prime motivation for the theory of quantum isometry groups of more general noncommutative Riemannian manifolds is given by C-star algebraic quantum automorphism groups of finite dimensional spaces defined and studied by Wang, Bichon and Manin. However, Manin's approach was mostly algebraic. The book proposes to fill this gap in some sense. The book is an interesting book for the researchers working in this area which is still ``hot'' enough. The physical motivations and possible applications given in this book are more interesting examples. The book consists of Ten chapters. Chapters 1 \& 2 are an introduction; Chapters 3, 4, 5 give the definition and Existence of quantum isometry groups and it's realization in different spaces. In chapters 6, 7 \& 8 the authors study the action, representation theory and the spectral Triples and their quantum isometry groups. In Chapters 9 \& 10 one finds an interesting physical examples and open questions. I think that it is one of the important books in the recent areas of noncommutative geometry, quantum groups and quantum isometry groups. | |||
