In this paper, the author considers the general decay rate of solutions to von Kármán equations of memory type with acoustic boundary conditions. Here, the relaxation function \(g\) appearing in the memory terms are assumed to satisfy \(g'(t)\leq-H(g(t))\) for all \(t\geq0\), where \(H\) is a non-negative linear or strictly increasing function, convex on \((0,\xi]\), for some \(0<\xi<1\), also satisfying \(H(0)=0\). Such assumptions were recently used to examine decay rates in other related problems; see [\textit{M. I. Mustafa} and \textit{S. A. Messaoudi}, J. Math. Phys. 53, No. 5, 053702, 14 p. (2012; Zbl 1276.76009); Nonlinear Anal., Real World Appl. 14, No. 4, 1854--1864 (2013; Zbl 1284.35428)]. Within the main result, the special choice of \(H(t)=ct^p\) with \(1\leq p\leq \frac{3}{2}\) is discussed. No other assumptions on the behavior of the relaxation functions at infinity is made. Hence, the results here contribute to the previous results on the exponential and polynomial decay rates of solutions to such von Kármán equations.
