The author obtains some new bounds (upper and lower) for derivatives of algebraic polynomials \(P\) of degree \(n\) under certain restrictions on their zeros which extend recent results of Dewan, Hans and Lal. The main upper bound looks as follows. Theorem 1. Let \(P\) have no zeros inside the disk \(\{| z| <k\}\). Then for each complex \(\beta\), \(| \beta| \leq1\), and \(j=1,2,\ldots,n\) one has \[ \max_{| z| =1} \left| z^jP^{(j)}(z)+\frac{\beta n!}{(k+1)^j (n-j)!}P(z)\right| \leq \frac{n!}{2(n-j)!}\gamma, \] where \[ \gamma = \gamma_+\max_{| z| =k}| P(z)| -\gamma_-\min_{| z| =k}| P(z)| , \] \[ \gamma_{\pm} = k^{-n}\left| 1+\frac{\beta}{(1+k)^j}\right| \pm \left| \frac{\beta}{(1+k)^j}\right| . \] The result is optimal, and equality holds for \(P(z)=az^n+bk^n\), \(| a| =| b| \), and \(\beta\geq0\). The result for the lower bound is the following: Theorem 2. Let \(P\) have all its zeros inside the disk \(\{| z| \leq1\}\). Then for each complex \(\beta\), \(| \beta| \leq1\), and \(j=1,2,\ldots,n\) one has \[ \min_{| z| =1} \left| z^jP^{(j)}(z)+\frac{\beta n!}{2^j (n-j)!}P(z)\right| \geq \frac{n!}{(n-j)!}\, \left| 1+\frac{\beta}{2^j}\right| \,\min_{| z| =1}| P(z)|. \] The result is optimal, and equality holds for \(P(z)=az^n\). | |||
