The work shows that the Cauchy problem for the \(b\)-family of equations is ill-posed in Sobolev spaces \(H^s\) with \(s<3/2\), on both torus and the line for the case \(b>1\), which includes the case \(b=3\), the Degasperis-Procesi equation.
