A generalized symmetric space is a connected, pseudo-Riemannian manifold, carrying at least one regular \(s\)-structure, where \(s\)-structure means a smooth family of isometries as defined in the last lines of page 255 in this paper. In particular, a pseudo-Riemannian symmetric space is a generalized symmetric space. Non-symmetric generalized symmetric spaces of dimension four are classified, as stated in Theorem 2.1 of this paper by Cerny and Kowalski. They are divided into four families A, B, C and D. The main result of this paper, Theorem 1.4, proves that non-symmetric simply-connected four-dimensional pseudo-Riemannian generalized symmetric spaces of types A, C, D are algebraic Ricci solitons, whereas those of type B are not. Algebraic Ricci solitons are defined in Definition 1.3 of this paper and the proof of the above theorem is done by a detailed calculation of the Ricci operator.
