The authors present a quantitative approach to weak compactness in Fréchet spaces. They recall from \textit{C. Angosto} and \textit{B. Cascales} [Topology Appl. 156, No. 7, 1412--1421 (2009; Zbl 1176.46012)] definitions of some nonnegative functions which, for a given subset \(H\subset E\) (\(E\) a Fréchet space), measure -- in a sense -- the distance of the set of weak*-cluster points in \(E''\) of sequences in \(H\) to \(E\). These functions are denoted by \(\text{ck}(H), {\gamma}(H),\text{k}(H)\). The motivation for this research comes from Theorem 2.3 in [loc. cit.] where it was shown that, for any Banach space \(E\) and any bounded subset \(H\) in \(E\), we have \[ \text{ck}(H)\leqslant\text{k}(H)\leqslant{\gamma}(H)\leqslant2\text{ck}(H). \] The aim of the authors is to provide similar results in the setting of Fréchet spaces. Among other results, they give a quantitative characterization of weak compactness in Fréchet spaces and a quantitative version of weak angelicity of a Fréchet space.
