The volume is a comprehensive, carefully organized, in-depth treatise on intuitionistic fuzzy sets -- constructs forming a certain augmentation of fuzzy sets in which both degrees of membership and non-membership are considered as two independent entities. The material structured into 11 chapters is split into several main parts. The concepts of intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFS) are motivated through a series of illustrative examples including those showing their geometric interpretations. Subsequently, several chapters are devoted to modal and topological operators and their extensions. Next (in Chapter 7) covered are the topics of norms and metrics. Intuitionistic fuzzy relations are studied in Chapter 8. More advanced and specialized operations (implications, negations, subtractions) are elaborated on in Chapter 9. Several extensions of IFS constructs are discussed and a number of open problems are formulated. The exposure of the formal material is good with well thought-out arguments and a wealth of illustrative material. Overall, the book provides a very good reading for those interested in IFS. | |||
