Suppose that \(A, B, A_1,\dots,A_m\) are nonnegative \(n\times n\) matrices, and \(\circ\) and \(\rho\) denote the Hadamard product and the spectral radius, respectively. It is a known fact that the spectral radius of the Hadamard product of two non-negative matrices is submultiplicative. \textit{K. M. R. Audenaert} [Linear Algebra Appl. 432, No. 1, 366-368 (2010; Zbl 1205.15034)] proved a conjecture of \textit{X. Zhan} [Advanced Workshop on Trends and Developments in Linear Algebra, ICTP, Trieste (2009)] by establishing that \[ \rho(A\circ B) \leq \rho^{1/2}((A\circ A)(B\circ B)) \leq \rho(AB). \] \textit{R. A. Horn} and \textit{F. Zhang} [Electron. J. Linear Algebra 20, 90--94 (2010; Zbl 1191.15015)] showed that \[ \rho(A\circ B) \leq \rho^{1/2}(AB\circ BA) \leq \rho(AB). \] \textit{Z. Huang} [Linear Algebra Appl. 434, No. 2, 457--462 (2011; Zbl 1209.15015)] proved that \(\rho(A_1\circ\cdots\circ A_m)\leq\rho(A_1\cdots A_m)\). In the paper under review the author extends the results above to the setting of the generalized and the joint spectral radius of bounded sets of non-negative matrices that define bounded operators on Banach sequence spaces. He also proves the inequalities \[ \rho(A\circ B) \leq \rho^{1/2}((A\circ A)(B\circ B)) \leq \rho(AB\circ AB)^{1/4}\rho(BA\circ BA)^{1/4} \leq \rho(AB) \] and \[ \rho(A\circ B) \leq \rho^{1/2}(AB\circ BA) \leq \rho(AB\circ AB)^{1/4}\rho(BA\circ BA)^{1/4} \leq \rho(AB) \] in the case of the usual spectral radius of non-negative matrices.
