The authors study certain overdetermined linear systems of PDEs which have a geometric origin and satisfy strong invariance properties. The goal is to rewrite these systems in a closed form by prolongation, called the prolongation covariant derivatives of the given equations. A universal construction of such a prolongation was obtained by the present authors in [J. Eur. Math. Soc. (JEMS) 14, No. 6, 1859--1883 (2012; Zbl 1264.58029)]. The paper under review is the second in a series of articles in this respect. After reviewing the general procedure developed in the above mentioned preprint, the authors compute the prolongation covariant derivatives for certain interesting examples in projective, conformal and Grassmanian geometries, respectively.
