\textit{S.-J. Chen}, \textit{W.-C. Lin} and \textit{J.-F. Chen} [``On the growth of meromorphic functions with a radially distributed value'', Indian J. Pure Appl. Math. 42, No. 1, 53--70 (2011; \url{doi:10.1007/s13226-011-0004-x})] proved the following: Let \(f\) be a transcendental meromorphic function of finite lower order \(\mu\) with \(\delta(\infty, f^{'})>0\) in \(\mathbb{C}\). For \(q\) pairs of real numbers \(\{\alpha_{i}, \beta_{j}\}\) such that \[ -\pi \leq \alpha_{1}<\beta_{1} \leq \alpha_{2}<\beta_{2}\leq \cdots\leq\alpha_{q}<\beta_{q}\leq \pi \] and \(\omega=\max\{\pi/(\beta_{j}-\alpha_{j}): 1\leq j\leq q\}\), suppose that \[ \overline{\lim\limits_{r\rightarrow\infty}}\frac{\log n(r, Y,f+a(f^{'})^{k}=b)}{\log r}\leq \rho \] with a positive number \(\rho\), a finite complex number \(b\), and \(Y=\bigcup\limits_{j=1}^{q}\{z:\alpha_{j}\leq\arg z\leq \beta_{j}\}\), for any positive integer \(k\geq 2\), and that \[ \sum\limits_{j=1}^{q}(\alpha_{j+1}-\beta_{j})<\frac{4}{\sigma}\arcsin\sqrt{\frac{\delta(\infty, f^{'})}{2}}, ~~\alpha_{q+1}=\alpha_{1}+2\pi, \] with \(\sigma=\max\{\omega,\rho,\mu\}\). Then the order \(\lambda\) of \(f\) satisfies \(\lambda\leq \max\{\omega,\rho\}\). Based on this theorem the author considers the situation when \(f\) has infinite lower order, obtaining the following result: Let \(f\) be a transcendental meromorphic function of infinite lower order \(\mu\) in \(\mathbb{C}\). For \(q\) pairs of real numbers \(\{\alpha_{i}, \beta_{j}\}\) such that \[ -\pi \leq \alpha_{1}<\beta_{1} \leq \alpha_{2}<\beta_{2}\leq \cdots\leq\alpha_{q}<\beta_{q}\leq \pi \] with \(\omega=\max\{\pi/(\beta_{j}-\alpha_{j}): 1\leq j\leq q\}\), suppose that \[ \overline{\lim\limits_{r\rightarrow\infty}}\frac{\log n(r, Y,f+a(f^{'})^{k}=b)+\overline{n}(r, Y,f=\infty)}{\log r}\leq \rho \] with a positive number \(\rho\), a finite complex number \(b\), and \(Y=\bigcup\limits_{j=1}^{q}\{z:\alpha_{j}\leq\arg z\leq \beta_{j}\}\), for any positive integer \(k\geq 2\). Then for some \(\tau\) with \(0<\tau<1\), arbitrarily small \(\nu>0\), \(c\in\widehat{\mathbb{C}}\) and \(Y_{\nu}=\bigcup\limits_{j=1}^{q}\{z:\alpha_{j}+\nu\leq\arg z\leq \beta_{j}-\nu\}\), we have \[ \overline{\lim\limits_{r\rightarrow\infty}}\frac{\log n(r, Y_{\nu},f^{'}=c)}{\rho(r)\log r}\leq \tau \] and so \(f^{'}\) has no Borel direction of proximate order \(\rho(r)\) in \(Y_{\nu}\).
