Given a wavelet frame \(\{\varphi_{k,l} = a^{k/2}\varphi(a^k\cdot-lb): k, l\in\mathbb{Z}\}\), this paper aims at a computationally realizable construction of its approximation dual wavelet frame given that \(a=m/n\) is rational. In another words, the paper discusses the approximation of \(\{S^{-1}\varphi_{k,l}: k,l\in\mathbb{Z}\}\), where \(S\) is the frame operator defined by \(Sf = \sum_{k,l}\langle f, \varphi_{k,l} \rangle \varphi_{k,l}\). First, \(S\) is approximated at level \(i\) by \(S_{0,i}: I_{0,i}\rightarrow I_{0,i}\), where \(I_{0,i}:=\{\varphi_{k,l}: k=-i,\dots,i, l\in\mathbb{Z}\}\). Second, since \(S_{0,i}\) has in general no bounded inverse, \(S_{0,i}\) is further approximated by \(\bar{S}_i: \tilde{H}_i\rightarrow \tilde{H}_i\), where \(\tilde{H}_i\subseteq I_{0,i}\) is an invariant subspace with respect to the translations \(T_{m^in^ib}\). In practice, the inverse \(\bar{S}_i^{-1}\) can be computed by the pseudo-inverse. Finally, the approximation dual wavelet frame is given by \(\{\tilde\varphi_{k,l}^i=\bar{S}_i^{-1}\varphi_{k,l}: k,l\in\mathbb{Z}\}\). Due to the commutative property, one actually only needs to compute the inverse of the first level generators \(\tilde\varphi^i_{0,l}\), \(l\in\mathbb{Z}\) and the approximation dual wavelet frames is a multiwindow wavelet frame \(\{a^{k/2}\tilde\varphi_{0,l}^i(a^k\cdot): k,l \in\mathbb{Z}\}\). Using such approximation dual wavelet frame and under the assumtion that \((\langle f, \varphi_{k,l} \rangle)_{k,l\in\mathbb{Z}}\) is a \(l^1\) sequence, the paper shows that \[ \|f-\sum_{k,l}\langle f, \varphi_{k,l} \rangle \tilde\varphi^i_{k,l}\|_{L^2}\rightarrow 0 \] as \(i\rightarrow \infty\). | |||
