A \(k\)-\textit{symmetric space} \((M,g)\) is a homogenous Riemannian manifold together with some isometry \(\varphi: M\rightarrow M\) of order \(k\), which has some isolated fixed point. Hence the ordinary Riemannian symmetric spaces correspond to \(2\)-symmetric spaces. The \(k\)-symmetric spaces studied in this paper are quotients of compact Lie groups. An \textit{affinor structure} \(F\) on a manifold is a tensor field of type \((1, 1)\), key examples being almost complex structures, almost product structures, \(f\)-structures and \(h\)-structures. In this work almost product structures are investigated; these structures define canonical distributions; a description of the base canonical distributions on Riemannian homogeneous \(k\)-symmetric spaces is established. The canonical distributions on Riemannian \(k\)-symmetric spaces, \(k\in \{4,5,6\}\), are described.
