The purpose of this paper is to study the three-dimensional ellipsoidal BGK model \[ \begin{split} &\partial_tf+\nu\cdot\nabla f=A_{\nu}(\mathscr{M}_{\nu} (f)-f),\\& f(x,\nu,0)=f_0(x,\nu),\\ \end{split}\tag{l} \] which was introduced as an approximation of the Navier Stokes equation, in order to give the correct Prandtl number. The main result is that the sequence of approximate solutions, obtained from a Picard type iteration, converges strongly to the solution of ({l}). The proofs use Lipshitz continuity, Cauchy sequences, Cauchy--Schwarz and Brunn--Minkowski inequalities. | |||
