The authors studied Hardy-type inequalities associated to the quadratic form of the shifted Laplacian \(-\Delta_{\mathbb{H}^N}-(N-1)^ 2/4\) on the hyperbolic space \(\mathbb{H}^{N}\), \((N-1)^{2}/4\) is the bottom of the \(L^2\)-spectrum of \(-\Delta_{\mathbb{H}^{N}}\). The optimal constant in the resulting Poincaré-Hardy inequality is derived, proved and discussed. Furthermore, an improved Hardy inequality on more general manifolds under suitable curvature assumptions and also by allowing the curvature to be possibly unbounded below is presented. Finally, the Rellich-type inequalities associated with the shifted Laplacian which are shown to be sharp in suitable senses are also formulated, proved and discussed. | |||
