A Teichmüller curve is an isometrically immersed algebraic curve from the hyperbolic plane to the moduli space \(\mathcal M_g\) of genus \(g\) Riemann surfaces. It is said to be algebraically primitive if the associated trace field attains its maximum degree (equal to \(g\)). The main result of this paper shows that there are only finitely many algebraically primitive Teichmüller curves in \(\mathcal M_3\). In order to prove the result, the authors apply various techniques, such as the Harder-Narasimhan filtration of the Hodge bundle over a Teichmüller curve, passing to the boundary of the moduli space, and torsion bounds related to unlikely intersections in diophantine geometry. A number of related results on primitive Teichmüller curves can be found in [\textit{I. I. Bouw} and \textit{M. Möller}, Ann. Math. (2) 172, No. 1, 139--185 (2010; Zbl 1203.37049)], [\textit{M.
