A maxitive measure is the analogue of a finitely additive measure for which addition is replaced by taking the supremum operation. These measures often have a density, and in fact, the author shows that they can be decomposed into the supremum of a maxitive measure with density and a residual maxitive measure, which, under certain conditions, vanishes on compact sets.
