Let \(N\geq 2\) be an integer and let \(\Omega\) be a subset of \(\{0, 1, \dots , N-1\}^2\) consisting of \(M>N\) pairs. The authors consider a Sierpinski-like carpet \(\Lambda \subset {\mathbb R}^2\), i.e., the attractor of an iterated function system generated by the functions \[ (x,y) \mapsto \left(\frac{x+k}{N}, \frac{y+l}{N}\right), \quad (k,l)\in\Omega, \] and its slices \(E_{\theta,a}:=\Lambda\bigcap\{(x,y): y=x\tan\theta +a\}\) with rational slopes \(\tan\theta\). They prove that almost all slices have equal Hausdorff and box-counting dimensions, these dimensions depend only on \(\theta\), and exceed \(\log_{N}{M} -1.\)
