The authors study globally generated vector bundles on complete intersection Calabi-Yau threefolds \(X\), i.e. complete intersection smooth threefolds defined by \(\ell \) homogeneous polynomials of degrees \(d_1,\ldots ,d_\ell\) in the projective space \(\mathbb P^{3+\ell}\), with the property that \(\omega _X \cong {\mathcal O}_X\). It is easy to see that there are only a few possibilities for \(\ell \) and \(d_ i \). The main results of the paper are: 1. classification of globally generated vector bundles of any rank with \(c_1\leq 2\) on a smooth quintic in \({\mathbb P}^4\) 2. classification of rank \(2\) vector bundles on the codimension \(2\) complete intersection Calabi-Yau varieties. Moreover, an example of a globally generated rank \(2\) vector bundle for a codimension three Calabi-Yau threefold is constructed.
