In this paper the problem of reconstruction of an unknown characteristic transient thermal source inside a domain is considered. An isotropic Sobolev Hilbert mathematical framework is adopted and methods similar to those used in the analysis of the stationary source reconstruction are considered. By introducing a finite differences time \(\theta\)-scheme, an algorithm based on a modified Helmholtz system, for which the inverse source reconstruction problem has been studied, is developed.
