The author performs a nonlinear analysis of two models for the evolution of dominance modifiers in a two locus two allele system with selection, recombination, and mutation. The first of these models generalizes the classical model of \textit{R. A. Fisher} [Am. Nat. 62, 115-126 (1928)] to the case of non-neutral modifiers. The second one is derived from \textit{P. M. Sheppard's} model for the evolution of dominance in mimicry [Natural selection and heredity. London: Hutchinson (1958)]; both cases of neutral and non-neutral modifiers are investigated. The same models with difference equations instead of differential equations are shown to provide the same results.
