Let \(R\) be a commutative ring with identity. A unitary \(R\)-module \(M\) is a multiplication module if for each submodule \(N\) of \(M\) there exists an ideal \(I\) of \(R\) such that \(N=IM\). It is proved that if \(M\) is a finitely generated multiplication module and \(\varphi\) an endomorphism of \(M\) then there exists \(r\in R\) such that \(\varphi(m)=rm\) \((m\in M)\). Also, a finitely generated module \(M\) is a multiplication module whose annihilator in \(R\) is generated by an idempotent if and only if \(M\) is a projective module whose ring of endomorphisms is commutative.
