Let \(f\in C^ \infty (\mathbb{R})\) such that \(f^{(n)}\in L_ p (\mathbb{R})\) for each \(n\). In a previous paper [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 108, 73-76 (1990; Zbl 0707.26015)], the first author has shown that the limit \(d= \lim_{n\to\infty} \| f^{(n)} \|^{1/n}_{L_ p}\) always exists and \(d= \sup\{| \xi|\): \(\xi\in \text{supp } \widehat {f}\}\), where \(\widehat {f}\) denotes the Fourier transform of \(f\). In the present paper the authors prove a parallel result for Orlicz spaces \(L_ M\) instead of Lebesgue spaces \(L_ p\).
