A set \(X\subset k^ n\) \((k\) is an algebraically closed field) is an identity set for polynomial automorphisms of \(k^ n\) if and only if for any two polynomial automorphisms \(f\) and \(g\) of \(k^ n\), if \(f| X=g| X\), then \(f=g\). The author proves that if \(H_ 1,\ldots,H_ n\), \(n\geq 2\), are hypersurfaces in general position (it means that for the irreducible polynomials \(\varphi_ i\) describing \(H_ i\) we have \(\text{det}\left[{\partial\varphi_ i\over\partial X _ j}\right]_{{1\leq i\leq n\atop 1\leq j\leq n}}\not\equiv 0)\), then \(\bigcup^ n_{i=1}H_ i\) is an identity set. Besides, the author gives an interesting example of one hypersurface \(H\) (\(H=\{(x_ 1,\ldots,x_ n)\in k^ n: x_ 1\cdots x_ n=1\})\), which is also an identity set, although it has not the property of extension of regular embeddings of \(H\) in \(k^ n\) to a polynomial automorphism of \(k^ n\).
