The authors discuss the relation between imprecision and semi-infinite optimization. The semi-infinite approach allows the incorporation of fuzzy data into the objective and constraints of a linear or nonlinear program. The authors use the properties of the cutting plane method to establish techniques for accelerating the convergence of the procedure. Very interesting is the adaptation of penalty with global convergence properties to semi-infinite mathematical programming. In the end the integration of fuzziness and randomness in an optimization context is presented.
