It is well known that a sinusoidally excited inductance-capacitance lossless circuit can have none, one, or many periodic oscillatory modes (external resonances), if the capacitor is nonlinear. A particular case of such a circuit is described in the paper, where the capacitive term is of the form \(x+F(x)\), \(|F(x)|\) being a bounded function. An abstract `modern' method is used to prove the existence of such modes. The key relations of the proof serve in the Bogolyubov-Mitropolskij asymptotic method to determine the possible amplitudes of the periodic oscillations.
