The authors explicitly describe the process of associating an automorphic representation of \(\text{PGSp} (2n,\mathbb{A})\) with a Siegel modular form \(f\) of degree \(n\) for the full modular group. This generalizes the well-known procedure in the case \(n=1\). The description shows that the standard and spinor \(L\)-functions associated with \(f\) are obtained as Langlands \(L\)-functions. Then they apply Langlands' theory of Euler products to a Levi subgroup of the exceptional group of type \(F_4\). As a consequence they derive the meromorphic continuation of the spinor \(L\)-function in the case \(n=3\).
