The numerical detection of connecting orbits (Q5942863): Difference between revisions

The authors deal with a parameter dependent ordinary differential equation (1) \(\dot x=f(x,\lambda)\), and are interested in the detection of a connecting orbit between two steady states \(x_{\lambda_0}\), \(y_{\lambda_0}\) while the system parameter \(\lambda\) is varied. The underlying idea is to construct coarse coverings of invariant manifolds over a range of parameter values and to search for intersections of these coverings. The authors provide the applicability of the new method by three examples.
