The authors prove an X-ray estimate in general dimension which is a version of \textit{T. Wolf}'s Kakeya estimate [Rev. Mat. Iberom. 11, 651--674 (1995; Zbl 0848.42015)]. This result generalizes Wolf's estimate [ibid. 14, 561--600 (1998; Zbl 0927.44042)] obtained in the three-dimensional case.
