The authors developed a discrete wavelet Petrov-Galerkin (DWPG) method for integral equations of the second kind with weakly singular kernels. This class of equations arises from the reformulation of boundary value problems of partial differential equations as integral equations. The idea used by the authors, in the DWPG method, is to combine the vanishing moment property of the wavelet bases with algorithms based on the DPG method. Estimates for the rate of convergence and computational complexity of the method are proved.
