Characterized subgroups of compact metrizable abelian groups are intensively studied the last ten years by many authors. Recall that a subgroup \(H\) of a compact abelian group \(X\) is called characterized if there exists a sequence \(\mathbf{u} =\{ u_n \}\) of characters of \(X\) such that \(H=\{ x\in X: \; (u_n, x)\to 0 \}\). \textit{D. Dikranjan} and \textit{K. Kunen} [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 208, No. 1, 285--291 (2007; Zbl 1109.22002)] and \textit{M. Beiglböck} et al. [Topology Appl. 153, No. 11, 1682--1695 (2006; Zbl 1091.22001)] proved that every countable subgroup of a metrizable compact abelian group is characterized. Using this result \textit{S. S. Gabriyelyan} [Topology Appl. 159, No. 9, 2378--2391 (2012; Zbl 1245.22005)] proved that every second countable locally compact group (LCA) \(G\) has the next property: there is a continuous monomorphism \(p\) from \(G\) into a compact metrizable group \(X\) such that \(p(G)\) is a characterized subgroup of \(X\) (groups satisfying this property are called characterizable). Answering a question of Gabriyelyan the author proves a stronger result: For every second countable LCA group \(G\) and each continuous monomorphism \(p\) from \(G\) into a compact metrizable group \(X\) the image \(p(G)\) is a characterized subgroup of \(X\) (this means that \(G\) is a strongly characterizable group).
