Let \(p\) be a prime number, and let \(F\) be a \(p\)-adic field. One of the natural problems is to determine the set \(\Omega_F(e,f)\) of all extensions of \(F\) with fixed ramification index \(e\) and inertia degree \(f\). Several authors including \textit{M. Krasner} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris 254, 3470--3472 (1962; Zbl 0117.02703); ibid. 255, 224--226 (1962; Zbl 0117.02801); ibid. 255, 2342--2344 (1962; Zbl 0117.02803); ibid. 255, 3095--3097 (1962; Zbl 0117.02804)] and \textit{J.-P. Serre} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. A 286, 1031--1036 (1978; Zbl 0388.12005)] by different methods obtained an explicit formula for the total number of elements of \(\Omega_F(e,f)\). In [J. Number Theory 104, No. 1, 14--61 (2004; Zbl 1055.11072)] \textit{X.-D. Hou} and \textit{K. Keating} considered the problem of determining the number of isomorphism classes of fields in \(\Omega_F(e,f)\). They found general formulas under some additional assumptions on \(p\), \(e\) and \(f\). Later on, in 2011 one of the authors of the paper under review was able to deduce a formula enumerating the isomorphism classes of extensions of a \(p\)-adic field \(F\) with given ramification \(e\) and inertia \(f\), for each \(e\) and \(f\) [\textit{M. Monge}, J. Number Theory 131, No. 8, 1429--1434 (2011; Zbl 1233.11124)]. In [Monatsh. Math. 150, No. 4, 271--288 (2007; Zbl 1126.11068)] the first and second authors of the paper under review presented a complete description of the smallest degree case for which there is wild ramification, namely the case of extensions of degree \(p\) of a \(p\)-adic field F. In Monatsh. Math. 166, No. 1, 73--92 (2012; Zbl 1333.11110)], \textit{C. S. Dalawat} revisited the method of them in [Zbl 1126.11068], introducing a different method, and extended the main result to local fields of characteristic \(p\). In the paper under review, the authors use the methods in [Zbl 1126.11068] and [Dalawat, loc. cit.], to classify the isomorphism classes of the extensions of degree \(p^k\) of a \(p\)-adic field for all \(k\geq 1\). Moreover, for \(k=2\) they perform more explicit computations and find formulas for the number of extensions whose normal closure has a given Galois group.
