Let \(f(z)=\sum^{\infty}_{k=0}a_ kz^ k\) be a power series and r its radius of convergence \((1<r<\infty)\) and for \(n\in {\mathbb{N}}\) let \(L_{n-1}(z;f)\) be the Lagrange polynomial interpolating f in the nth roots of unity, and let \[ P_{n-1,j}(z;f):=\sum^{n-1}_{\nu =0}a_{jn+\nu}z^{\nu},\quad j=0,1,.... \] For a fixed positive integer m define \(\omega:=\exp (2\pi i/mn)\) and \[ A_{n-1}(z):=(1/m)\sum^{m- 1}_{q=0}L_{n-1}(z\omega^{-q};f_ q) \] \[ A_{n- 1,j}(z):=(1/m)\sum^{m-1}_{q=0}P_{n-1,j}(z\omega^{-q};f_ q) \] where \(f_ q(z(:=f(z\omega^ q).\) With these notations the author's main result is as follows. Let \(\ell \in {\mathbb{N}}\) and let \(\beta\) be the smallest positive integer with \(\beta m>1\), then \[ \lim_{n\to \infty}(A_{n-1}(z)- \sum^{\ell}_{j=0}A_{n-1,j}(z))=0\quad for\quad | z| <r^{1+\beta m}. \] This theorem generalizes results of \textit{J. L. Walsh} [Interpolation and approximation by rational functions in the complex domain (1965; Zbl 0146.299)] and of \textit{A. S. Cavaretta jun., A. Sharma}, and \textit{R. S. Varga} [Resultat. Math. 3, 155-191 (1980; Zbl 0447.30020)].
