Let H be a Poincaré duality algebra (P.d.a) over \({\mathbb{Q}}\). The formal dimension and the space of indecomposables \(C=H^+/H^+H^+\) are two natural invariants of H. The main result of this paper is a classification of P.d.a's by means of these two invariants. In the special case of homogeneously generated P.d.a.'s the author proves that this classification reduces to the linear classification of certain homogeneous polynomials and exterior forms.
