Some sharp results are proved on a conjecture of the author's earlier paper [J. Number Theory 37, No.2, 181-198 (1991; Zbl 0716.11031)]. For example, for any three positive real numbers \(a_ 1\leq a_ 2\leq a_ 3\), if at least one of \(a_ 2/a_ 1\) and \(a_ 3/a_ 1\) is an irrational number, then for any \(\epsilon >0\), there exist three integers \(K_ 1,K_ 2,K_ 3\) such that \(a_ iK_ j-a_ jK_ i\leq (1- \lambda)a_ j-\lambda a_ i,\) \(i,j=1,2,3\), where \(\lambda =1/3- \epsilon\).
