Let L be a simple Lie algebra of type \(A_ m\). It is well known, that the standard orthogonal decomposition \(L=\oplus H_ i\) uses the monomial basis \(J_ u\). An orthogonal decomposition is called J-decomposition, if every Cartan subalgebra \(H_ i\) has a basis, consisting of some of \(J_ u\). The decomposition is called irreducible, if the group \(Aut_{OD}(L)\) acts absolutely irreducible on L and is called transitive, if the action is transitive on the set \(\{H_ i\}.\) It is proved that if \(m\neq 8,26\), then all irreducible decompositions are standard, but in the case \(m=26\) there exists the only nonstandard J- decomposition. It is also shown that there exist transitive (but reducible) decompositions.
