By using a method from the famous paper of the author in cooperation with \textit{D. A. Goldston} and \textit{C. Y. Yildirim} [Ann. Math. (2) 170, No. 2, 819--862 (2009; Zbl 1207.11096)], in the present paper the author proves results of the following type: 1) There exists an even number \(d\), with \(0<|d|\leq 16\) such that \(\lambda(p+d)=-1\) holds true for infinitely many primes \(p\) (where \(\lambda(n)\) denotes the classical Liouville function, defined by \(\lambda(n)= (-1)^{\Omega(n)}\), \(\Omega(n)\) counting the total number of prime factors of \(n\)); 2) There exist absolute constants \(c\) and \(C\), an odd number \(b\leq C\) and \(d\) with \(0<|d|\leq 30\) so that \(p^-(p+d)> p^c\), \(\Omega(p+d)= b\) for infinitely many primes \(p\), with \(p^-(n)\) denoting the least prime factor of \(n\).
