The authors study complete minimal surfaces M in \({\mathbb{R}}^ 3\). Using Xavier's techniques they prove: If M is of finite topological type and not a plane, then the Gauß map g assumes every value infinitely often, with the possible exception of six points. In the meantime H. Fujimoto has proved his four-points-theorem. So we suppose that the number six in the theorem above can be replaced by the number four.
