Let \(2\leq p<\infty\) and \(\phi_ p: {\mathbb{R}}_+\to {\mathbb{R}}_+\) be an Orlicz function which equals to \(t^ p(\log t)^{p/2}\) for large t. It is shown that if \(K\) is a compact Hausdorff space and \(\mu\) is a Radon probability measure on \(K\), then the canonical embedding \(C(K)\) in the Orlicz space \(L_{\phi_ p}(K,\mu)\) has Gaussian cotype p. From this result it is derived that the Gaussian cotype 2 constant of the canonical embedding \(\ell^ n_{\infty}\to L^ n_{2,1}\) is bounded by \(\sqrt{\log \log n}\).
