Vandermonde matrices on the circle: Spectral properties and conditioning (Q5899922): Difference between revisions

The authors determine the eigenspaces and eigenvalues of \(VV^ T\) where V is a Vandermonde matrix whose entries \(v_{ij}=u^ i_ j\) where \(u_ i\) is 1 or -1. Hence they are able to show the condition number of V is less than \(\sqrt{2n}\) for an \(n\times n\) matrix V.
