The author proves that the modal logic T \((=K+Lp\to p)\) has the property that if LA\(\leftrightarrow LB\) and MA\(\leftrightarrow MB\) are both theses then so is \(A\leftrightarrow B\). The author calls this property the double cancellation property, in contrast to the single cancellation property, which is that if LA\(\leftrightarrow LB\) is a thesis then so is \(A\leftrightarrow B\). T does not have the single cancellation property. If L is read as a verifiability operator then the single cancellation property says that if A and B have the same verifiability conditions then they have the same truth conditions. The double cancellation property says that if they have the same verifiability and falsifiability conditions then they have the same truth conditions.
