A log del Pezzo surface is a complex projective surface \(S\) with quotient singularities such that \(-mK_S\) is an ample Cartier divisor, for some positive integer \(m\). The smallest such integer is called the index of \(S\). The classification of nonsingular log del Pezzo surfaces is classical and those of index 1 have been studied extensively by Du Val, Demazure and classified by \textit{F. Hidaka} and \textit{K.-i. Watanabe} [Tokyo J. Math. 4, No. 2, 319--330 (1981; Zbl 0496.14023)]. Log del Pezzo of index 2 have been classified in terms of diagrams of exceptional curves on appropriate resolutions of singularities, by \textit{V. Alekseev} and \textit{V. Nikulin} [Sov. Math., Dokl. 39, 507--511 (1989; Zbl 0705.14038)]. The paper under review obtains a classification of log del Pezzo surfaces of index at most 2, by obtaining explicit equations in weighted projective spaces.
