Let \(\mathfrak a\) denote a real inner product space with linear dual \(\mathfrak a^*\) containing a reduced root system \(R\). Further, let \(W\) denote the associated Weyl group with complex group algebra \(\mathbb{C}[W]\), and let \(\Pi\) denote a basis for \(R\). Finally, let \(\mathfrak t^*\) denote the complexification of \(\mathfrak a^*\). The graded Hecke algebras of interest are constructed by first considering \(\mathbb{C}[W]\otimes S(\mathfrak t^*)\otimes\mathbb{C}[k_\alpha:\alpha\in\Pi]\) with certain relations between the first two components. Here \(S(-)\) denotes the symmetric algebra and the \(\{k_\alpha\}\) are formal parameters. Then, each parameter \(k_\alpha\) is specialized to a complex number \(c_\alpha\) such that \(c_\alpha=c_\beta\) if \(\alpha\) and \(\beta\) are conjugate under the action of \(W\). Let \(\mathbb{H}\) denote such an algebra. As a vector space, \(\mathbb{H}\) is isomorphic to \(\mathbb{C}[W]\otimes S(\mathfrak t^*)\). The algebra \(\mathbb{H}\) has a filtration whose associated graded algebra is isomorphic to the crossed product algebra \(W\ltimes S(\mathfrak t^*)\). Using the spectral sequence associated to a filtration on the Hochschild complex, the author obtains the first main result of the paper: that the Hochschild, cyclic, and periodic cyclic homology of \(\mathbb{H}\) is isomorphic to the respective homology of \(W\ltimes S(\mathfrak t^*)\). In particular, the homology is independent of the choice of parameters. Further, it is shown that the inclusion \(\mathbb{C}[W]\to\mathbb{H}\) induces an isomorphism in periodic cyclic homology. The arguments for these isomorphims are actually given in a slightly more general setting of certain extended graded Hecke algebras obtained by considering an automorphism of the associated Dynkin diagram. The author then specializes to the case that the root system \(R\) is crystallographic and the parameters are real. In this case, it is shown that the periodic cyclic homology of \(\mathbb{H}\) can also be determined by using sheaf cohomology (related to the primitive ideal spectrum of \(\mathbb{H}\)). Some of this work is done in the more general setting of an algebra of finite type. Combining this alternative perspective with the original, the author obtains a significant representation-theoretic result: the set of irreducible tempered \(\mathbb{H}\)-modules with real central character forms (upon restriction to \(W\)) a \(\mathbb{Q}\)-basis for the representation ring \(R(W)\otimes_\mathbb{Z}\mathbb{Q}\).
