The authors select typical HAB (harmful algae blooms) - diatom and dianoflagellate, and propose to add some random terms (excitations) to a known model such that they get the stochastic system \[ \frac{dP_1}{dt}=\varepsilon P_1-a P_1^2-\alpha P_1P_2+\alpha_1 P_1 \xi(t)+\beta_1\eta(t), \] \[ \frac{dP_2}{dt}=\varepsilon P_2-b P_2^2-\beta P_1P_2+\alpha_2 P_2 \xi(t)+\beta_2\eta(t) \] under the hypotheses that \(\xi(t)\) and \(\eta(t)\) are independent, with mean zero and standard variance Gauss noise. They investigate stochastic stability and stochastic bifurcation. Using stochastic averaging, an Itô stochastic differential system is obtained. According to the Fokker Plank-Kolmogorov Theory the authors determine the stationary transition probability density and analyze the equilibrium points subject to stochastic excitations.
