Let E be a peak set for \(H^{\infty}\) and define \[ H_ E^{\infty}=\{f_{\infty}\in L^{\infty};\quad f|_ E\in H^{\infty}|_ E\}. \] It is proved that if \(A=H_ E^{\infty}\) or if \(A/H^{\infty}\) is an M-ideal of \(L^{\infty}/H^{\infty}\) and \(A\neq H_ F^{\infty}\), where F is a generalized peak set for \(H^{\infty}\), then the unit ball of \((L^{\infty}/A)\) has no extreme points. Also, it is proved that if A and B are Douglas algebras and B is countably generated over A, then \[ \cup \{Supp m: m\in M(B)\setminus M(L^{\infty})\} \] is dense in the essential set of A.
