The first part of this paper is concerned with some special integral equations of first kind. We prove the differentiability of solutions of these equations and find stability estimates. In the second part we establish the differential properties of a strictly convex, centrally symmetric, twice continuously differentiable surface with positive Gaussian curvature and its dependence on the differential properties of the areas or lengths of the boundaries of its orthogonal projections on a plane. We estimate the proximity of surfaces for which the areas or boundary lengths of their orthogonal projections on the plane with the same normal vectors are close. We then prove theorems on the existence, uniqueness, and regularity of convex, centrally symmetric surfaces for which some given functions are the areas or the lengths of the boundaries of their orthogonal projections on a plane. In the third part we solve the inverse scattering problem in the Kirchhoff approximation and establish several properties of the scattering surface.
