Let r be a fixed integer with \(r\geq 3\), and G be a finite group. The authors show that G-Galois coverings of \({\mathbb{P}}^ 1\), with ordered r ramification points and given monodromy representation, form a coarse moduli space (so-called Hurwitz space) and form a Hurwitz family. Moreover, they discuss the fields of definition and of moduli for these curves and for Hurwitz families. The existence of the Hurwitz scheme for simple coverings is given by \textit{W. Fulton} [Ann. Math., II. Ser. 90, 542-575 (1969; Zbl 0194.219)].
